My ‘Big Fat’ Qing Wedding
Wednesday 27 March 201312:15

Hey guys! It’s my second day in Chengdu and today I visited the Sichuan University Museum. Nope, it wasn’t about the university’s history, instead it was about China’s rich culture! I had loads of fun looking at all the artifacts but my favorite was the Qing dynasty wedding! I loved how grand everything looked; from the carriage to the type of outfit the bride has to wear. Sadly, pandas like me can’t have such a royal wedding…sigh. But well, here is a short photo spread of the exhibit for you guys to see. Hope you enjoy!

The brides of the Qing dynasty were treated like royals on their wedding day; arriving in a traditional carriage like one of this.

The wedding gowns were stitched with intricate and colorful patterns that enhance the bride’s beauty on this auspicious occasion.

The dowry makes its way to the grooms on a "carriage" of its own.

The Qing dynasty men paraded along the carriages with hats.
Why? Because the more hats, the more wealth.
So how many hats do you wish to have?
